Leak Detection - Pinpointing the Leak

So you have determined you most likely have a leak. But where is it! That is the 2 million dollar question! Now it is time to call Central MO All Service Plumbing to help you find that pesky leak and get you on the road to recovery. Why should you chose Central MO for you leak detection and repair? Below is a bit of information that may help you understand why Central MO All Service Plumbing is the leader at the Lake!

Central MO All Service Plumbing is a leader in accurate, non-invasive leak detection at the Lake of the Ozarks and its surrounding communities. Our expertise and industry-leading technology enable us to locate all types of leaks, including hidden water and sewer leaks. Identifying leaks early can save money, reduce damage and protect property values.

If you suspect a water leak, let us put our experience to work for you.

Our keys to accurate leak detection:

Expertly Trained Technicians. Our technicians have completed extensive and rigorous training programs to prepare them for their work. Their unique skills and specialized training enable them to accurately locate even the most difficult leaks, while protecting your property from damage or destruction.
Cutting Edge Equipment. Trained specialists are not enough. Central MO All Service Plumbing has taken our commitment a step further, by seeking out technologies and methods to guarantee the most accurate, least destructive, non-invasive leak detection possible.

Six reasons why you can count on Central MO All Service Plumbing to do the job right:

  1. Non-invasive Approach. Our goal is to detect your leak without excavation. That is why we are a leader at the Lake in leak detection. Even if these leaks occur behind walls, under flooring, within slabs or down the drain in the sewer, we will locate the leak without unnecessary damage or destruction to your property.
  2. The Right Resources and Expertise. We have the experience and know how. That means you benefit from our 25 years of industry experience and our state-of-the-art equipment and technology. But we do not stop there; we continually research new leak detection techniques and develop new tools and methods to serve you better.
  3. Cost Effectiveness. Our non-invasive method ensures two important results: 1) you receive a timely and economical outcome, and 2) damage to your property is eliminated or dramatically reduced.
  4. "Know Before you Go" Pricing. We know customers prefer an accurate price quote they can count on: one that is based on an assessment of the situation and our specific recommendations. Many companies will quote any price over the phone because they know people are shopping around based on cost. The result is an inaccurate or misleading quote that changes once a technician actually sees the job. This isn't fair or right, and our customers deserve better. Our office will provide a fair, accurate and up-front quote so you'll "know before you go" what your cost will be to detect the leak.
  5. Not All Leak Detectives & Detectors Are Created Equal. When getting a quote for leak detection over the phone don't necessarily be charmed by the lowest price! Ask questions! Remember you always tend to get what you pay for and not all leak detection equipment is as accurate or as state of the art as others. Also not all operators are as highly trained as the technicians at Central MO All Service Plumbing. We may not be the cheapest leak detectors in town but we will be the BEST and MOST ACCURATE leak detector that you call. It is not unusual for us to go in after up to two other plumbers have been in to try to detect a leak and find it on the first try.
  6. Peace of Mind. Our experienced, professional technicians are fully trained, insured to use our advanced leak detection equipment and technology. You will not find a more professional or qualified staff anywhere.

Let us take the stress out of a stressful situation.

Hidden water leaks are often stressful and have potentially serious consequences. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of confronting a water problem, taking the right steps immediately will protect your budget and your property value. Don't pay too much, or incur the property damage that results from having the wrong people on the job. Let us be your ally and correct the problem in the least invasive way possible.

Detecting A Leak

There are ways you can detect a possible leak on your own. Some signs and symptoms of a leak that you can watch for are:

  • Higher than normal water bills.
  • If you hear the sound of running water somewhere in your home when there is nothing turned on.
  • Sewer odors.
  • The water meter changes even during times when there is no water being used.
  • You find patches of floor or wall that are moist and/or discolored.

The average household leak can account for more than 10,000 gallons of water wasted every year. 10% of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons or more of water per day. Common types of leaks are worn toilet flappers, dripping faucets, and other leaky valves that are all easily fixed. These easy fixes can save a homeowner about 10% on their water bill.

Leak Detection

  • A good method to check for leaks is to examine your winter water usage. It is likely that a family of four has a serious leak problem if its winter water usage exceeds 12,000 gallons per month.
  • Check your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, you probably have a leak.
  • One way to find out if you have a toilet leak is to place a drop of food coloring in the toilet tank. If the color shows up in the bowl within 15 minutes without flushing, you have a leak. Make sure to flush immediately after this experiment to avoid staining the tank.

Faucets and Showerheads

  • A leaky faucet that drips at the rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons per year. That’s the amount of water need to take more than 180 showers!
  • A showerhead leaking at 10 drips per minute wastes more than 500 gallons per year. That is the amount of water it takes to wash 60 loads of dishes in your dishwasher.

Toilets

If you toilet is leaking, the cause if often an old, faulty toilet flapper, Over time, this inexpensive rubber part decays, or minerals build up on it.
If the average family replaces its older, inefficient toilet with new WaterSense labeled toilet, it could save 13,000 gallons per year. Retrofitting the house could save the family nearly $2,400 in water and wastewater bills over the lifetime of the toilets.

Outdoors

  • An irrigation system should be checked each spring before use to make sure it was not damaged by frost or freezing. An irrigation system that has a leak 1/32nd in diameter (about the thickness of a dime) can waste about 6,300 gallons of water per month.
  • Check your garden hose for leaks at its connection to the spigot. If it leaks while you run your hose, replace the nylon or rubber hose washer and ensure a tight connection to the spigot using pipe tape and a wrench.

Swimming Pool

Signs of a pool leak may include the following:

  • Air bubbles in the water return lines.
  • Pump equipment loses prime.
  • Visible cracks in the liner and/or bottom.
  • Pool deck is sinking or lifting.
  • Soggy spots on the ground around the pool.
  • Adding water more than once a week.
  • Pool loses more than regular evaporation.
